Joss Whedon has been bringing us wonderful television and movies for years. Some examples are “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “Angel”, “Serenity”, “Firefly”, some episodes of “Roseanne”, “Toy Story” and even the beloved “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog”. He now brings us “Dollhouse” on Fox. It is shown Friday nights at 9:00 or you can watch it like I did at hulu . It’s an easy place to catch up on the story so far. The first two episodes are posted and are pretty interesting if you like science fiction, action and mystery shows or stories about amnesiacs.
This show once again teams Joss Whedon with Eliza Dushku, who played Faith, on the long-running “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, which Joss Whedon created. She plays the title role of Echo, a character that has her memory completely wiped clean so that she can be imprinted with any number of new identities. Much like a…DOLL! She lives in a facility that caters to the wishes of the rich that rent these “dolls”. They are then programmed for their missions. They can be used for crimes or a fantasy…they can be used for love or simply for fling. The problem is that Echo is starting to remember her past. Joss Whedon cast another alum from one of his old shows in this one. If anyone watches Dollhouse, they may recognize Dr. Claire Saunders. If so, it’s because she played Winifred Burkle on “Angel”. She just didn’t have all of the awesome face makeup at the time.
Now for why I like the show. I think that having the main character become someone completely different in every episode is an interesting way to help reveal secrets about her past to the viewers and even keep viewers coming back for more. I liked the idea that this organization (The Dollhouse) could simply pull people off of the street and make them into a doll, capable of doing anything, with the use of a machine. And as to the rest of this highly illegal operation, a federal agent is searching for them while his peers whisper about how crazy he is behind his back. All of these different story arcs and characters mold together wonderfully to make this a great show. It’s fast paced but the story never blurs at any point or gets clunky, leaving you wondering “What the heck is going on?”
After watching the first two episodes, I give this show an 8.75 out of 10. Hopefully this show has a life more akin to that of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” or “Angel” instead of that of the cult-favorite show “Firefly”, which was canceled far before its prime.

Fair Enough…I’m pretty sure I agree with the new rating.
Ok. 9.6, though, for Eliza Dushku’s hotness.
