Every time I hear Posture Coach I could just see Britain’s acclaimed radio host John Peel smiling from heaven. Posture Coach embody the best of the best with their full-length debut, Give Them Excess. The bands debut is reminiscent of the guitar driven indie bands of the mid 80s who were not afraid to experiment with 60s acid rock howls and shrieks. Posture Coach could have easily fit comfortably in the Twin/Tone Records and The Shimmy Boot records rosters
Imagine the dual vocals of More Songs About Buildings and Food-era Talking Heads layered in the gutteral guitar mones/jangles reminiscent of the legendary mid 80s Los Angelos noise rock combo 100 Flowers, this is the fine art Posture Coach delivers. Ouside of the many Post-Punk comparisons Posture Coach present a working class/rural -esque sound, but still stay true to their tight Mission of Burma grooves. “Pets Vs. Humans” is a fine exaple of the band’s mid 80s college Art Punk approach, while “Cape Cod Girls” embodies a more working class sound with a divine sweetness. “After The Fog,” would have been the perfect song for college radio circa 1988, with its tightly polished guitar hums and most importantly dualistic vocals. Posture Coach prove that to have a working class sound you do not have to be straight up rock alone with standard power chords. To Posture Coach its about allowing the manic guitar shifts to unite as one blissful landscape
