First look at David Grohl Alley

Written by Justin / Posted in: ,

You might be saying to yourself, “This isn’t the first look at David Grohl Alley… it’s been there quite a while and I’ve already seen it.” Well ok, it was MY first look at David Grohl Alley, and I took some photographs for those who aren’t lucky enough to live close enough to Warren, Ohio to come out and see it.

To sum it up, Dave Grohl was born in Warren and someone decided to name an alley after him. The alley has the potential to become a local “walk of fame” and is host to music and Dave Grohl related street graffiti. I was envisioning something a tad bit more classy, but it’s still interesting and I’m sure people will stop by and check it out.

The dedication ceremony will be held Saturday August 1st in Courthouse Square in Warren, Ohio. Currently the Music is Art festival is going on, and over 50 local acts are performing nightly until Saturday. Check it out if you can, tonight was free, I’m not sure if they will be charging at all this weekend.

  2. I wish. An invitation was sent to him to be the guest of honor at the dedication ceremony on Saturday. The people putting it together got no response, maybe if everyone wishes hard enough he’ll show up unexpectedly.

  3. Hopefully he shows up. I plan on being there Saturday. I don’t even care if he performs. My question is in two parts: I love that they named the alley after him, but birth name aside, he goes by Dave Grohl. Shouldn’t they have named it “Dave Grohl Alley”?

Part two: What are they doing to enforce that the sign won’t be stolen? I’m really hoping no one takes it. That is something very cool for the area to be able to say it has.

I love that they decorated the alley with Nirvana and Foo Fighters paint. The star is well deserved. He will one day be in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, probably for both bands. Great coverage Justin! I cannot wait to see this!

  5. Official word has come down that Dave Grohl will be appearing at the dedication ceremony tomorrow sometime. Check it out, August 1st, Courthouse Square in Warren, Ohio.

He requested two drum sets and an acoustic guitar. Sounds like something you should not miss.
