Coverage: The Sounds on Tour

Written by Justin / Posted in: ,

I apologize for the fact that it’s been over 2 weeks since I last posted an article. I think it’s been well over two weeks that anything new has been posted here. I guess we’re busy. Or maybe we’re lazy. Maybe we just don’t have anything cool to say. All I know is that I am really glad I’m breaking the silence.

I just returned from seeing a really phenomenal concert at the Grog Shop in Cleveland. The bands in question? The Sounds, an electro-rock band from Helsingborg, Sweden and opener Hey Champ, an equally great band from Chicago.

Hey Champ was also an electronic based rock group, whom I really enjoyed. The singer mentioned that they were signed to a label run by rapper Lupe Fiasco. He said they weren’t real sure why, but they were happy about it. The music itself was very intense with hard hitting electronics and amazing drumming. The drummer was really incredible and played super hard. By the time they were done with their last song, his snare head was destroyed. I highly recommend you check this band out.

After they played, The Sounds came out. The crowd went absolutely nuts for them. I was real pumped to see the lead singer, Maja Ivarsson, in person because I thought she was pretty cute, but to really see her…. wow. She was great, the band was great, everything about the night was great. The high point in my night, and I’m sorry but I have to brag about this, is when she came up to me and did the old “I got your nose” trick to me. I really felt a connection, but I was unable to get my nose back. I’m not sure if I will ever have it again. It was reminiscent of the scene in Dogma when God pokes Bethany’s nose, yea, it was that powerful.

I am pretty sure they played about 15 songs, which included all of their best songs such as; Living in America, Hit Me, Fire, Rock n’ Roll, Hope You’re Happy Now, Queen of Apology, Painted by Numbers, Hurt You, Tony the Beat, and new songs No One Sleeps When I’m Awake, 4 Songs and a Fight, Beatbox off of their new album “Crossing the Rubicon“ set to release on June 2nd.

If you are interested in purchasing some of The Sounds albums, you can currently buy “Living in America“ and “Dying to Say This to You“ online and in stores.

Enjoy the pictures, and feel free to post comments about your experience at this show, or any other city on this tour.
